Metabolism of Cardiac Muscle

چکیده
Both pyruvate and lactate are extracted by the intact myocardium at physiological levels (1, 2) and are rapidly burned to CO2 in the intact cardiac muscle slice. They are interconverted by the diphosphopyridine nucleotide-dependent lactic acid dehydrogenase system and share a common final pathway for terminal oxidation (3, 4). Since these substrates are so closely related in carbohydrate metabolism, a metabolic competition under certain conditions might be expected. Very little has been done to explore the possibility of such a competition, although BraunMenendez et al. (5) concluded that each substrate was used independently as a function of concentration in the heart-lung preparation. The purpose of this study was to determine t.he rates of utilization, oxidation, and interconversion of pyruvate and L(+)-lact,ate when incubated together at various concentrations with cardiac muscle slices from ducklings. By tagging one substrate at a time with Cl4 it was possible to determine the rates of exchange between substrates as well as the over-all rates of oxidation in an open system.

Neuregulins Response to Exercise: a Mini Review
The Neuregulin is a member of the epidermal growth factors (EGF) family of receptor kinases, was originally identified as the product of the transforming gene derived from chemically induced rat neuroblastoms. A variety of different protein isoforms are produced from single Neuregulin gene. Four distinct vertebrate gene encode Neuregulin, prosaically named NRG1, NRG2, NRG3, and NRG4. Most of bi...
متن کاملThe effect of resistance training on the expression of cardiac muscle growth regulator messenger genes in obese male rats
Background: Obesity is associated with cardiovascular disease, followed by pathological cardiac hypertrophy. However, physical activity (resistance training) plays a role in modulating some of the intracellular messenger pathways associated with the regulation of pathologic hypertrophy. The aim of this study was to investigate The effect of resistance training on the expression of cardiac muscl...
متن کاملTHE EFFECT OF 8 WEEKS AEROBIC TRAINING ON CARDIAC PGC-1Α AND PLASMA IRISIN IN STZ-INDUCED DIABETICS’ RATS
Background: Cardiomyopathy is one of adverse effects of diabetes that associated with cardiac muscle metabolism and function disruption. Exercise training decreases adverse effects of diabetes on heart by changing genes involved in cardiac metabolism and increasing myokines secretion. So, the aim of this study was to investigate of 8 weeks aerobic training on cardiac PGC-1α gene expression and ...
متن کاملThe effect of resistance exercise on oxidative stress in cardiac and skeletal muscle tissues of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats
Abstract Background and Objective: It has been shown that oxidative stress increases in diabetes and it has an important role in its development and subsequent complications. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of acute resistance exercise on oxidative stress in skeletal muscle and cardiac tissues of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Materials and Methods: Twenty male ...

Five hundred and ninety two Siberian sturgeon (A. baerii) fingerlings (average weight, 11.1±0.9 g) were randomly distributed in 16 tanks (150 L) at a density of 35 fish per tank and fed different treatments (Control, degrading bacteria, 2% PHB, degrading bacteria + 2%PHB) for 60 days. At the end of the experiment, the results indicated that the fish fed PHB or bacteria treatments had low midgut...
